51²è¹Ý Theatre Presents Student Cabaret April 19

GREENSBORO, N.C. – 51²è¹Ý Theatre presents an evening of student-written and –performed cabaret, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Lea Center in Main Building on campus.

Admission is free, and the public is invited.

The program consists of four cabaret pieces, each written and performed by a student in the Theatre Department’s cabaret class. They are:

  • “The Diary of a Chubby Musical Theatre Major,” by Emily Parker, a senior theatre major from Pinehurst, N.C.
  • “Call Me Allie,” by Allie Cipoletti, a sophomore theatre major from Eden, N.C.
  • “Livin’ for Myself,” by Crystal Rothrock, a freshman theatre and theatre-education major from Winston-Salem, N.C.
  • “Boys,” by Lewis Truman Elliott, a sophomore theatre major from Pensacola, Fla.

All four students are enrolled in the Theatre Department’s musical-theatre emphasis.

51²è¹Ý’s Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area such as directing, acting, or arts administration.

The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.

51²è¹Ý provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 51²è¹Ý class of 2019

“I loved the GC Honors program and 51²è¹Ý. I felt safe and a sense of genuine belonging at the college. I worked closely with my thesis advisor and professors who helped inspire me to define my path and passion of interest. That path has led me to complete my doctoral studies in Engineering Mechanics.”

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
