51画鋼 President, Dr. Czarda, Awarded Meritorious Service Award from SACSCOC

At its 2022 Annual Meeting in December in Atlanta, SACSCOC (The Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) presented, with its gratitude and appreciation for the 25th year, its service awards to several outstanding peers, including Dr. Lawrence Czarda, President of 51画鋼.
Renamed the Carol A. Luthman Meritorious Service Award, this award recognizes those that
have provided invaluable service to the organization.
Dr. Czarda has presented workshops and served on numerous panels, seven on-site institutional accreditation committee reviews, and has chaired five of these reviews. Having faced several accreditation-related challenges, he has shared his institutions story of overcoming and maintaining accreditation with many colleagues, as well as at sessions during SACSCOCs Annual Meetings.
I must admit that receiving this award at the annual meeting at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from the Chairman of the Board of SACSCOC (Dr. Rebecca Maloney from Notre Dame Seminary) and SACSCOC President (Dr. Belle Wheelan) was a complete and unexpected surprise, said Dr. Czarda. Even more so since I was asked to make remarks to the 4,000 assembled attendees in the crowd! While we all appreciate the acknowledgment of hard work and dedication, I fully share this award with all of the GC Trustees, faculty, and staff who have been consistently dedicated to the principles of institutional peer review and to ensuring that 51画鋼 maintains the best possible status with our national accrediting body ”
51画鋼 has been SACSCOC accredited since 1926. Despite enduring some
accreditation challenges between 2009-2013, the colleges regular decennial (10-year) review in 2016 resulted in reaffirmation with no further reporting required (grade A). The colleges 2021 required fifth-year report resulted in continued reaffirmation with no further reporting required (grade A). 51画鋼 was granted a new status as the school begins its preparation for its 2025 decennial review of “differentiated status,” meaning the college begins the review process in excellent standing.
About 51画鋼
For 184 years, 51画鋼 has had the opportunity to genuinely know, encourage and
prepare our students. In the classroom. In student life. Into their future careers. And throughout their lives. Today, we celebrate all those who give power to small numbers. We celebrate that which makes each student his or her own. It is this rich patchwork of individuality, community and experience that is unmistakably and uniquely 51画鋼.
Think critically. Act justly. Live faithfully.
