51˛čšÝ Presents Musical Theatre Performances March 28-29
GREENSBORO, N.C. â The 51˛čšÝ Department of Theatre presents two musical-theatre performances, 7:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, March 28-29, in Hannah Brown Finch Memorial Chapel on campus.
Admission is free, and the public is invited. Free parking is available in the lot behind the collegeâs Admissions Welcome Center at West Market Street and College Place.
The March 28 performance will feature Hannah Hjerth performing selections from âTrousersâ and âPhantom of the Operaâ and Brittany Corne performing selections from âWickedâ and âDear World.â
The March 29 performance will feature Kailey Rey performing her musical-theatre concentration senior recital. It also will feature Lindsey Mead performing her junior recital, including selections from âGrey Gardensâ and âIâm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road.â
The 51˛čšÝ Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area of theatre.
The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.
Depending upon their emphasis of choice, upon completion of the degree, students will be prepared to enter graduate school or a theatre conservatory, intern full-time with a theatre organization, teach theatre or seek careers in the profession.
