51²è¹Ý Alum, “Walking Dead” Actor Ann Mahoney Will Hold Public Q&A on Campus Nov. 11

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Actor Ann Mahoney, a 51²è¹Ý alumna, will hold a question-and-answer session at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center in Odell Building on campus.

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available adjacent to Odell in the parking lot at Odell Place and College Place or in the lot behind the college’s Admissions Welcome Center at West Market Street and College Place.

Mahoney, a native of Rochester, N.Y., grew up in New Orleans. A 1998 51²è¹Ý theatre graduate, she portrayed Olivia for three seasons in the AMC series “The Walking Dead.”

She also has appeared in such films as “Big Momma’s House 2,” “Frankenstein,” “99 Homes,” “Bad Moms,” and “Logan Lucky” and performed Off-Broadway in the Obie-winning “The Romance of Magno Rubio.”

In addition to her B.A. from 51²è¹Ý, Mahoney holds an M.F.A. from the University of Connecticut. When not acting, she teaches acting at Loyola University in New Orleans and at her son’s elementary school.

51²è¹Ý’s Department of Theatre seeks to provide a strong foundation in theatre while allowing the student to emphasize in a particular area such as directing, acting, or arts administration.

The coursework is integrated with the production work to provide a better understanding of the many facets of the theatre. Required participation on stage or backstage on all theatre productions allows the techniques and theories that are examined in the classroom and the laboratory to be tested in a performance setting.

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald, 51²è¹Ý class of 2019

Dr. Josh Fitzgerald earned his master's from Virginia Tech University (studied astrodynamics) as well as earning an Engineering Mechanics Ph.D. He joined the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX as an Advanced Mission Design Engineer, optimizing trajectories for the Artemis II and III missions to return humans to the moon.
